Are thinkin of going to Tokyo for the Summer Olympic Games 2020?

Howdy fellow golfers.  It just came in that you can purchase tickets to the Tokyo"s Summer Games 2020.  The United States will have a team of golfers there. I ain't got any information on what players will go the summer games, cause they ain't decided yet.

But I do know that Tokyo is a long ways across the Pacific Ocean and if you wanna go, go here to get your tickets. Unless you figure on sleeping on the ground or in your rental car, here is a better idea.

This new blog is about golf. Here each of Scruffy's Pals will post about golf stuff, including golf bags, golf balls, golf carts, and cart accessories, golf cartoons, golf club reviews, golf clubs, golf humor and more.

Niles is our golf rules, go-to man. He used to be a butler for one of the richest men in England and soon found out he would have to learn the rules of golf to settle arguments after his boss came home with his four-ball group. he is well versed in the R&A and PGA rules.

Looper will be talking about golf bags since he has a lot of experience on that subject.  He will also talk about golf courses since he as walked a few, and he will talk about golf shoes since he wears out a few pairs each year looping for pro-golfers and amateurs. Looper knows a lot about golf course management and will give some of his insight.

Crash loves souped-up anything that has 4 wheels.  He will be giving us the latest on golf carts, equipment, and accessories. Crash thinks that getting to the next hold first is more fun than scoring.  So, he will give some pointers and warnings about golf carts.

Uncle Jess looks grumpy and at times he is.  He runs a business to provide travel and lodging for golfers.  So, he will be giving us some of the best places to play and how to get there.  Plus he is connected with getting tee times.

Lefty, as you can see faces some challenges on the golf course, so he will be using his experience as an amputee and direct you to places to learn more about amputee golf.

Ruthless Golf
One of the ways to promote my blog is to do link exchanges with other blogs.  Being new to this blog thing, I decided to reach out so a few blogs to see if any of them would be interested.  Ruthless Golf is my first exchange!  I encourage you to go visit their website and blog.  There are a bunch of good posts, including books, tips, and golf information to keep you busy for hours.

Mike Southern is the writer of several books, including Ruthless Putting and Stop Coming Over-the-Top. Mike is a writer, cartoonist, graphic artist and self-publisher who has played in for pro golf tournaments.

Besides exchanging links with me, he was kind enough to share his knowledge and tips on blogging which was much appreciated.

Go check out Mike's website and his blog, you will not be disappointed.  I have included a graphic at the top of this post of just a few of his books.

Thank you, Mike, I asked my pals and, they all agreed to make you an honorary member of the Shade Well Country Club!

Scruffy buys all my dog stuff from Chewycom.  I like the way it tastes and the toys are fun, When I am out chasing a squirrel or trying to keep geese off the greens the food gives me the energy I need.

I heard Scruffy and Hoss talking about me and my needs and Scruffy told him that they are having a 30% off promotion.
Hi there, I am Buggesy. You have probably learned a little about me if you have visited the Scruffy & Pals website. Scruffy tells you a little about me and that I am a snazzy dresser.

I have always felt like I play better if I am dressed to the hilt. There is something about having a new outfit and new shoes that make you feel kinda special and not ashamed of having faded shirts or worn-out shoes. I want to introduce you to Straight Down recently and highly recommend you check out their line of sports clothing and shoes. My friends at Straight Down will bend over backward to assure you are happy with your order and their customer service is superb. I assure you that you will feel good about yourself and be proud when you step on the first tee with your pals. Go and take a look and give them a try, I think you will like what they offer.

For your everyday golf, you know your regular Saturday group of skins, you may want to wear something a little less, let's say formal.  Here is a link that you can find all kinds of golf clothing, shoes, rain suits and windbreakers.  Just a side note:  I DO NOT think that t-shirts, tank tops or jeans should be allowed on the golf course.  I know that some clubs allow that, but in my opinion, doing so diminishes the club's appeal.

 Grip and Rip it!

There is a lot of talk about balls and clubs today are causing a lot of concern in the golf world.  Jack Nicklaus has been outspoken about how clubs and balls are ruining golf.

According to the PGA, in 1980 the average PGA pro's drive was 256.8 yds and the long hitters were averaging 296.2 yds. Today the driving average is295.3 yds and the grip and rippers are averaging 318.0 yds.

All of us want to dive the ball further.  The golf equipment folks know that and each year they come out with the longest most accurate club on the planet.  Ball manufacturers design balls that will travel to the moon and back and land on the green like a leaf flying in the breeze.  These guys want us to want to emulate the professionals. Here are some interesting stats on the money spent on golf.

The fact that the golf equipment is being manufactured and marketed to make us think by buying their club/ball will improve our game. Golf courses have lengthened tees and make other changes to challenge this new equipment.  Here is an interesting article asking if the cost of equipment out of control?

I am in favor of free enterprise and the right of choice.  And I have no issue with golf manufacturers improving and marketing their brand to be the best. But the reality is that the average golfer, for the most part never reaches the promised improvement pushed by the manufacturers.

Like I have told Knothead, you cannot buy a better game. If you want to improve you have to understand the mechanics of the golf swing and practice practice practice.
